Midi Translation Map

Note : The MIDI translation is a run-time feature and therefore, it consumes CPU power. Do not use it if you can avoid it, for example, when you can just change some velocities manually.

The Midi Translation Map (MTM) is a feature that allows a mixer to change midi events as they pass through it. It is mostly useful to redirect notes and velocities in drum maps, but it can be used with any sort of midi data.

Start the midi translation dialog by pressing F8. The dialog appears as follows:

From there, you can:

You can double click on any = value and change it to =<number> (absolute set). For example if you click on 024 C0 and you set it to =25, all C0 notes will be changed to C0# notes. You can also use relative values, for example +5 (in which case it will change it to 29) , or -3 (in which case it will change it to 21).

In the same way you can change per patch or standalone midi velocities.

To associate a preset or a file with the mixer, you have to load this file/preset to the current map, then associate a mixer with it. MIDI mixers that have associated translation maps can be seen in yellow in Visual Linker.

Midi Translation Maps Presets can also be loaded from Scripts.
